Chhapra Bar Association has come up with a series of wel-fare plans for advocates practising in the district.

The association has proposed to provide financial assistance between Rs 800 and Rs 1,000 to advocates ahead of festivals such as Dussehra, Id, Chhath and Diwali.

The Bar has also proposed to help the advocates with Rs 25,000 before their daughters’ marriage.

Chhapra Bar Association general secretary Ravi Ranjan Singh on Wednesday told The Telegraph that all the proposals were placed at the general body meeting on Monday and were appreciated by the members.

“The association had in the past done many firsts for the benefits of the advocates and has become an inspiration for such associations elsewhere. It had established an academy for budding advocates. The association has now proposed to provide stipend to newcomers in the profession for the first three years,” Singh said.

“All these programmes were appreciated by Bar Council of India chairman Manan Mishra when he visited our association recently. He had pledged to implement these proposals throughout the country,” he added.

“The association had a revenue of Rs 4,34,457 in the 2011-12 fiscal. We expect the figure to reach Rs 8 lakh this financial year,” Singh said.

“We have spoken to MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, labour minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal, deputy speaker of Legislative Council Salim Parvez and RJD MP Lalu Prasad for the development of the Chhapra Bar Association. We expect to receive funds from these persons for the development of the association,” the general secretary added.
