Patna, Feb. 10: Chandrashekhar, a boarder of Minto Hostel who sustained head injuries after falling from the hostel roof, has been shifted to Max Hospital in New Delhi after his condition deteriorated at a city-based hospital today.
On the night of Saraswati Puja, Chandrashekar accidentally fell from the extended roof of the hostel while searching for his room keys.
He was taken to New Delhi on a flight today.
Meanwhile, the boarders of Minto hostel yesterday staged a demonstration in front of the university head office demanding money for Chandrashekhar’s treatment. The boarders staged a demonstration at the university main gate demanding financial assistance.
The students said since Chandrashekhar hails from a poor family, his parents will not be able to meet the expenses for the treatment.
Raghuvansh Mani, a boarder of Minto Hostel, said: “Chandrashekar hails from farmer’s family. As he has sustained serious injuries in his head, a huge sum of money will be required for his treatment. In such a case, the university should come forward in providing financial assistance.”
Meanwhile, the acting vice-chancellor of Patna University, Sudipto Adhikari, said the university is looking into the matter and would try and find out the reason behind his fall and only then would they allot some monetary assistance.
Chandrashekar, a history honours student of Patna College hails from Gaya and had been staying at the Minto Hostel for the past two years.
