The draft of the city’s master plan would be in the public domain for two months from Thursday.

Residents would be able to give their feedback on it after urban development and housing minister Samrat Chaudhary unveils it. After two months, it would be tabled before the state cabinet again for approval.

A source in the urban development and housing department said various media would be used for sensitising residents on giving their feedback on the master plan. “Nodal agencies and officers have been appointed for getting feedback from people. Besides, various platforms, including hoardings/posters and social media would be used,” said a senior official in the department.

The cabinet on July 25 declared the “plan area” in the proposed master plan for the capital. It was a prerequisite for making the plan public. According to the declared plan area, the city would spread over 1,167sqkm against the existing 250sqkm. The proposed Patna metropolitan region would stretch from the Ganga in the north to Punpun in the south and Fatuha in the east to Bihta in the west. Two satellite townships at Naubatpur and Bihta have also been proposed.

The declared plan area for Patna would comprise 13 blocks spread over five urban bodies — Patna Municipal Corporation, and nagar panchayats of Danapur, Phulwarisharif, Maner and Fatuha. According to the draft of the master plan, the proposed Patna Metropolitan Region would incorporate Bihta, Danapur, Khagaul, Daniyawan, Danaura, Fatuha, Khusraupur, Maner, Masaurhi, Naubatpur, Phulwarisharif, Punpun and Sampatchak blocks.

The long-pending issue of development of a new airport would be resolved after the final approval to the master plan. The city is expected to get its new airport near Punpun in southern Patna. An airport city would be developed there.
