Patna, Feb. 4: Fake currency notes of the face value of Rs 4 lakh were seized in the Karbhigahiya area under Jakk-anpur police station today.
Prabhat Kumar Agarwal, a resident of Gaya, and Om Prakash Maurya of Auran-gabad district were arrested in connection with the seizure, Patna senior superintendent of police Alok Kumar said.
“The police received a tip-off that some people, involved in fake currency rackets, were moving along the Patna Railway Junction route towards the Karbhigahiya side. A team, comprising city superintendent of police Kim, deputy superintendent of police (Sadar) Rashid Jama and Jakkanpur police station officers, was formed. Around 1.30pm, the cops stopped Agarwal and Maurya and questioned them,” Alok said.
“On searching them, the cops found two bags containing the counterfeit notes. Rs 3 lakh in the denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1 lakh in the denomination of Rs 100, along with two mobile phones, were found on the duo,” he added.
The police would further interrogate them for more information. The cops suspected a racket was active in and around the state capital.
In another incident, three criminals, allegedly involved in cases of robberies, were arrested today. They were identified as Sonu Kumar, Rajkumar Verma and Vish-wakarma Choudhary. The trio had on January 21 allegedly carried out a robbery in the house of Radhika Raman, a doctor, in the Buddha Colony area and injured her father.
