Patna: Two flats in Lakhan Enclave on Shagya Sharma Path, under the jurisdiction of Rupaspur police station in Danapur, were broken into on Saturday when its inmates were away.
Police said armed criminals broke open the locks of flat numbers 303 and 405 and took away cash and valuables worth Rs 4 lakh. Flat number 303 belonged to Chandrashekhar Rai, an engineer with the Pusa agriculture college in Samastipur and flat No 405 to Manju Srivastava.
Manju told police she had gone to her relative's house on Thursday. On Saturday morning, her neighbour informed her the locks to her flat were broken. She rushed back to find Rs 60,000 in cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh missing. Rai had left his flat on July 4 for Pusa. He too got to know about the theft in his flat from a resident of the apartment on Saturday morning.
The apartment has a private security guard and CCTV.
Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaaj visited the apartment and inquired about the incident. Additional superintendent of police (Danapur) Manoj Kumar Tiwari, too, rushed to the spot.
Rupaspur station house officer Deepak Kumar said they have intensified patrolling.
