Two schools organised various inter-school contests to test students’ talent, while another taught young students the meaning of friendship. Faryal Rumi reports

Gyan Niketan Boys School

Event: Inter-school competition

Duration: Daylong

Special attraction: The school organised a debate, poem recitation and painting competition on the occasion of Goswami Tulsi Das jayanti. Around ten city schools participated in the competition. Atul Kumar of Gyan Niketan Boy's School won the first prize for recitation Shristi Bhushan and Amisha of Gyan Niketan Girls School won the debate competition. Vikram from Gyan Niketan Boys School placed first in the painting competition.

DY Patil Pushapalata Patil International School

Event: Friendship day celebration

Duration: Daylong

Special attraction: Children tied friendship bands on each other's wrists and also presented crafted greeting cards. A cultural programme was organised by the students by more than 300 students. A friendship band making competition was also organised for students of the primary classes, having provided them with the materials. 

St Xavier’s College of Education

Event: Inter-school English elocution contest

Duration: Two days

Special attraction: The alumni association of the institute organised the contest in which 14 city schools participated. Soham Patra of St Michael's High School placed first in the junior category while Shambhavi of Don Bosco Academy placed first in the senior category. St Michael's High School was awarded the best school trophy.
