Patna, April 6: Fifteen colleges in the state are set to lose their accreditation as they have failed to renew the certificate before the expiry of its five-year validity, from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Only two colleges — Patna Women’s College and St Xavier’s College of Education, Digha — have renewed their accreditation. They were awarded with “A” grade status.

There are 21 educational institutions that are accredited by the NAAC in the state.

Patna University vice-chancellor Sudipto Adhikari told The Telegraph: “The NAAC team is going to visit Patna Women’s College. The college has presented its reports before the NAAC team.”

The NAAC has warned the institutes of stringent action if they were found misleading students about their accreditation.

Twelve of the 15 colleges who have lost accreditation are from Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga.
