Dhaka, May 17 (PTI): A school headmaster in Bangladesh was beaten up and made to do sit-ups in the presence of a local lawmaker for allegedly making anti-Islam statements.
Shyamal Kanti Bhakta of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Bandar Upazila was beaten up by locals after some unidentified persons, using the megaphone of a mosque, said Bhakhta had made offensive comments against Islam while he was punishing a student for not studying.
Bhakta was rescued by the police and made to do sit-ups in the presence of ruling Awami League legislator Selim Osman. The government has launched a probe into the incident.
