Kabul, Aug. 2 (Reuters): A suicide bomb attack killed two American soldiers in a Nato convoy near the airport in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar on Wednesday, a Pentagon spokesperson said.

Navy Captain Jeff Davis announced the deaths from Washington. He gave no further details. A local security official said the attacker drove an explosives-laden vehicle into the convoy. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in an online post by spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid.

He said the explosion killed 15 foreign soldiers, including two "high-ranking officers".
