Actress Sharmila Tagore with governor Keshari Nath Tripathi after receiving an honorary DLitt from Kazi Nazrul University during a special convocation at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

Sharmila was to receive her degree at the university's third convocation on May 26, but could not visit the town where she had spent several years of her childhood. The university later decided to organise a ceremony for her in Calcutta.

Governor Tripathi, who is also the chancellor of the university, conferred an honorary DSc on S.M. Yusuf, a scientist with the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. Picture by Sanjoy Chattopadhyaya
