In remembrance of Ajitesh Bandyopadhyay, Ajitesh Natya Academy stages Sher Afghan, a play that has long been regarded as one his masterpieces. A tale with a twist, it is built on the perennial theme of love and revenge. The story begins at a point when a group of college students decides to stage a play on power and vengeance. However, a triangular love affair among three of the actors fuels tension that ends in disaster. One of the lovers, a youth playing the role of Sher Afghan, suffers serious head injuries in an accident while on stage. Losing his sanity, he imagines himself to be a real Afghan prince. Meanwhile, the remaining duo of the love triangle get married, and after 20 long years when the trio meet again, a shocking truth is revealed and with it occurs an act of cold-blooded murder.
