Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra on Thursday posted a video on her X handle where she alleged that while travelling to Delhi via IndiGo, four to six men onboard the flight harassed her by chanting slogans such as “chor chor, TMC chor” and “Jai Shri Ram”.
In her post, she mentioned that she was travelling to Delhi for some official work to attend a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, when 4-6 men leered at her aboard the flight 6E 719 where she was seated at 1F.
"I was on seat 1F on 6E 719. 4-6 men boarded in a group, leered at me and went to the back of the plane. When the flight landed and before the doors opened, this is what they did and filmed it," she said in her post.
In the video the men were seen shouting “Chor chor, TMC chor, pishi chor, bhaipo chor” (Thief, thief, TMC thief, aunt is a thief; nephew is a thief)
“This is no citizen anger,” Maitra said while adding that her safety was in question and that the ‘louts’ should not get away with harassment of such scale.
She urged IndiGo to review the crew report, identify those involved, and place them on a no-fly list.
She also tagged Union civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, calling for action over the incident.
The post was widely viewed and circulated with Mahua Moita tagging Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, and MK Stalin.
No formal response has been shared by IndiGo so far.
