Assam extravaganza Endowed liberally with the bounties of nature, Assam is a land of eternal beauty and prosperity. The mighty river Brahmaputra that flows through the state faithfully symbolises the cultural synthesis that centuries of civilisation has moulded in this part of the country. The abode of a multiplicity of ethnic groups, Assam boasts of a rich cultural tapestry woven out of the tradition, heritage, lifestyle and beliefs of its people. Music and dance are the most outstanding features of the cultural activities of its different ethnic groups, its folk songs and dances deeply rooted in their daily lives. Showcasing the various colourful aspects of Assam’s rich cultural heritage, EZCC, in collaboration with department of culture, government of Assam, hosts the Festival of Assam. Featuring folk songs and dances, it offers a breathtaking survey of its fertile and abundant ethnic culture. Ojapali and Deodhani dance, Bhortal dance, Kusan dance, Barat dance and the famous Bihu Nritya, along with folk songs and Zikir, a religious poem, will be performed.
