Fair for social welfare
Since their inception, Inner Wheel Club and Rotary Club of Calcutta Metropolitan have been dedicated to the cause of community service projects. In association with these two organisations, t2 presents the ongoing Kolkata Haat 2010, a fund-raising event that brings together the best of traditional Indian art and handicrafts. With artists, designers and craftspersons from all over the country, it has 69 stalls showcasing artwork, textiles, showpieces, jewellery and more. Participants from other cities include Shashi Jewels and ANZ Designs (Mumbai), Occasions, Gayatri Chopra and Namrata Mathur (Delhi), Ridhima and Sunita Kanoria (Nagpur) and underprivileged persons of Ranchi Convent (Ranchi). From Calcutta, artists Nikhil Biswas, Malay Dutta, Rashmi Sharma and others are participating, besides various designers and artisans. Proceeds of the fair will go towards helping cancer patients, for the development of slum schools in Tollygunge, providing artificial legs to the handicapped and developing a garden for Calcutta Green Project.
