It takes a deeper look at exploitation as the order of the day, but its creative process has been “great fun” for the four women concerned. It’s almost nihilistic in tone, but it could well spark a resurgence on the Calcutta stage. Theatre veteran Sohag Sen (right), has brought together “friend” Renu Roy and two young women she’s “known since they were kids”, Konkona Sen Sharma and Niharika Seth, for the first trilingual venture in town. Pinky and Asha Mary tells the tale of an ex-cine star who employs two girls. “There is no script. The play is evolving through workshops, which combine hard work with lots of fun,” says Sen, “pleased” by the effort her three-member cast is putting in.
