Tanisha Ali, a Class XI student at a school in Rajarhat, died at her hostel on Monday, reportedly after falling down the staircase. The 16-year-old, a resident of Behrampore in Murshidabad, was taken to a nursing home in Baguiati where doctors declared her dead. A preliminary probe revealed she had suffered brain injury and internal haemorrhage.er family has lodged a complaint with Barasat police station and demanded a probe into the death.olice said Tanisha had passed Class X from Behrampore and had taken admission to Class XI in the arts stream at North Point Senior Secondary School in Rajarhat’s Langolpota.Tanisha had gone back to her hostel from school around 12.30pm after writing a test. Prank texter

A youth has been arrested for sending a text message on Sunday to a student at an engineering college in Kolaghat, in which it was claimed that multiple blasts would be carried out across Calcutta on Monday. The message bore the signature of a terror organisation. The Kolaghat police passed on the message to the city cops. Officers of the Special Task Force traced the number and zeroed in on the youth, who apparently bears no connection with the terror organisation.

Rape attempt

A 22-year-old saleswoman lodged a complaint with Burrabazar police station alleging that a man tried to rape her when she had entered his house on Jamunalal Bajaj Street to sell her products on Monday evening. The woman said she had managed to run away taking advantage of a power cut. She was taken to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital for medical tests but refused to undergo them. “She told us that the man who had tried to rape her had pulled her by the arm and there could be no injuries,” said a junior doctor.
