Kamal Hossain, an alleged Indian Mujahideen operative, was arrested by the Bangalore police in Garden Reach on Wednesday. Hossain was allegedly involved in the twin explosions near Bangalore’s M. Chinnaswami Stadium on April 16, 2010.
Taxi trouble: The Bengal Taxi Association moved a petition before the high court on Thursday, challenging the transport department’s decision to call a tender for allowing taxis from other associations in the prepaid booth at the airport.
Playwright dead: Poet-playwright Mohit Chattopadhyay, 78, died of cancer at a city nursing home on Thursday. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter-in-law. Born on June 1, 1934, at Barishal (now in Bangladesh), Chattopadhyay taught Bengali at City College and Jangipur College. Some of his plays are Kanthonalitey Surjyo, Chandralokey Agnikando, Ei Ghum and Tathagata. He won several awards, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi award.
