This Diwali, the Madan Mohan temple in Cooch Behar town will sell silver coins, made from around 20kg of silverware donated by devotees.

The November 3 sale is the second time the temple would sell coins. Several buyers have already enrolled at the temple office to place their order for the coins. The coins, etched with the image of the temple, would be sold according to the serial numbers in the register.

The first set of coins were sold in July.

“We have sold 998 coins. Now, we would be able to sell 1,889,” said Bikash Saha, the subdivisional officer (headquarters) and a member of the Cooch Behar Debottar Trust Board.

Jayanta Chakrabarty of the trust board said the coins would be sold at the market rate of silver. “We will charge an amount to cover the making and administrative charges.”
