She might have thought that she is "just going to sit down and watch these most young and energetic dancers from Georgia and our own country - Delhi, Mumbai, Imphal..." dance up a fusion storm, but the call of the stage was hard to resist for Hema Malini. On Friday, the Dream Girl breezed through town with Hema Malini's Synergy partnered by t2, an Indo-Georgian fusion fest, held at Calcutta Club. The evening saw the Georgian National Ballet Sukhishvili, which is more than 70 years old, put up a power-packed act followed by Pung Cholom from Manipur, Bharatanatyam and Kathak, all coming together at the end for a grand spectacle. "I visited Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, a very beautiful country, and I happened to see Georgian National Ballet Sukhishvili... young talented boys and girls full of passion and energy. I was amazed to see them perform so beautifully. That day Synergy was born in my heart," recalled Hema. Picture: Rashbehari Das
