Calcutta has had the distinction of being one of the most culturally conscious cities in India. It is no wonder that the city and its citizens have the pleasure of being witness to some of the most enthralling expositions of art. The Sufiana Durbar at EZCC’s Bharatiyam Cultural Multiplex promises to bring to the Calcutta stage a rich assimilation of Sufi songs in Assamese, Bengali, Oriya and Urdu. The participants in the Sufiana Durbar include Hafeza Begum Choudhury of Guwahati, Ishaque Anwar of Bhubaneshwar, Kismat Shah Fakir, Mansur Fakir and Biren Das of Karimpur and Dev Dildar and his group from Ludhiana. A rare opportunity for Calcuttans to listen to songs on Sufism, which according to many has had a dynamic and lasting effect on Islamic literature.
