Gangtok, Dec. 7: The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front will celebrate a decade in power with a function to mark the occasion tomorrow.
The function, to be held in Chintan Bhavan here, will see the government take stock of the work carried out in the past 10 years and highlight achievements made during the decade.
They will also chart their future course of action and prepare a roadmap for the goals to be achieved in the days to come.
The government function will be attended by senior government servants, party functionaries, members of the panchayat and the media.
The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front government under chief minister Pawan Chamling first came to power on December 12, 1994 with 19 MLAs.
Since then, they have not only managed to remain in power but also secured a complete majority in all the three terms.
In the recent election, in which the party was ushered into power for the third term, they managed to bag 31 of the total 32 Assembly seats.
Though the party will complete 10 years in power on December 12, the fact that government offices will close for the 9-day Losung/Namsoong festival (Bhutia and Lepcha New Year), led it to prepone the commemorative function to an earlier date.
