A regional hub of the National Security Guard has come up in New Town. It was inaugurated on Sunday by home minister Amit Shah.

The centre is located near Karigori Bhavan, which is opposite Uniworld City.

Built at a cost of over Rs 162 crore, the complex has residential complexes to house 460 persons with family. It also has office accommodation and modern training facilities, such as baffle firing range, indoor shooting range, obstacles, swimming pool, sports complex and artificial rock craft wall.

The NSG complex is a model regional hub of the NSG, which will hone the professional acumen of its commandos and contribute in capacity building of policemen. The area of responsibility of this hub comprises West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and the North East. This is the fourth hub of the commando force after Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad.

The hub was earlier housed in Badu, Madhyamgram.
