The All India Sikkim Trek for NCC girl cadets (senior and junior wings), which started on October 22, will continue till November 10. The expedition is being conducted by the NCC Group Headquarters Darjeeling on behalf of NCC Directorate of West Bengal and Sikkim.
In all, 1,000 cadets from 12 directorates will participate in the trek which will be conducted in four batches with around 250 cadets in each of them.
The aim of the expedition is to inculcate a spirit of adventure and self-confidence, develop love for nature and its preservation and to promote national integration among the cadets. The trek was flagged off at Sukna on October 23, followed by an address by the Group Commander and the NCC anthem.
Rail reservation
A railway passenger reservation system was inaugurated at Kalimpong Military Station by the GOC Trishakti Corps on October 12. The system will be helpful not only for the serving and retired military personnel of Kalimpong and nearby places, but also for the residents of the area.
New officer
Lt Gen. P.K. Rath, has handed over the reins of the Trishakti Corps to Lt Gen. D.S. Sidhu.
Lt Gen. Sidhu, an Armed Corps Officer, has experience in mechanised and infantry operations and the Eastern theatre. He had commanded a Mountain Division in Arunachal Pradesh and was also the Senior Directing Staff at the National Defence College in New Delhi.
Infantry Day
Infantry Day was celebrated on October 27 under the aegis of the Striking Lion Division. A wreath laying ceremony was organised at Sukna War Memorial to pay tribute to martyrs.
The event was attended by Lt Gen. D.S. Sidhu, GOC, Trishakti Corps, and other senior officers. The programme was followed by a Sainik Sammelan addressed by Maj. Gen. V.K. Pillai, GOC, Striking Lion Division, at Sevoke Road Military Station.
An ex-servicemen rally-cum-camp was organised by the Kripan Division at Cooch Behar Military Station.

Presiding over the function, the commander of the Rangpur Brigade highlighted the role of ex-servicemen in the society, and also told them about the latest welfare schemes and benefits.
