Tamluk, March 17: Police this evening detained five of a group of 13 Nandigram residents who are slated to appear in a film based on the land flare-up and the subsequent police firing in the East Midnapore pocket.
The 13 persons, including women and children, were returning from a news conference in Calcutta announcing the film, Chokher Pani, when their car was intercepted by the police in Howrah. They were taken to Kolaghat police station for questioning.
The police said they had received information that “some of the Nandigram residents had non-bailable arrest warrants in murder cases”.
