Kudghat: Metro services were disrupted for half an hour on Monday morning after a non-AC rake got stranded near Netaji (Kudghat) station.

The Dum Dum-bound rake got stalled at 10am after what Metro Railway officials described as "no motoring". It means the motor of the train stopped.

The train had left Masterda Surya Sen (Bansdroni) station and was about to enter Kudghat when the problem occurred. It was evacuated and taken to the Noapara car shed.

Metro Railway ran truncated services between Dum Dum and Tollygunge till 10.20am, spokesperson Indrani Banerjee said.

Thousands of commuters had a harrowing time because of the snag. Even when the truncated services were being run, the interval between two trains was more than usual.

Students and office-goers were the worst-hit. The CBSE Class XII economics exam began at 10.30am and ICSE biology test at 11am.
