Siliguri, Oct. 30: If you want a home where quality is paramount, in addition to the scenic surroundings and amenities, Barsana Garden Apartments could leave no room for regrets. Bookings for the premium residential project, developed by the Beekay Auto group, began today.

The complex is yet another addition to the list of real estate ventures that have successfully come up in this fast-developing and ever-growing town in north Bengal. The apartment complex consists of 192 apartments and 16 duplex houses, with the architecture and landscaping having been done by leading Delhi-based firms.

Situated on Mirik Road in Matigara, about 5 km from Darjeeling More, the apartments provide an easy access to the airport, the university, schools and shopping centres. ?We are also building a 60-room four star hotel near the complex,? said Yograj Garg, chairman and managing director of Beekay Auto.

?When we set up the Maruti showroom nearby in 1986 (the first of the three Beekay Auto centres, the other two being in Asansol and Burdwan), this place was a jungle. But we had a vision and a penchant for innovation. We took up the challenge of converting the face of this place into what it is now,? Garg said, explaining why the 44-bigha land in Matigara was selected.

?The project will provide exclusive, upper middle class accommodation set in the lap of nature and in a less congested area. At the same time all modern day amenities necessary for a day-to-day existence will be made available. The compound will have 1.5 lakh square feet of greenery, a paved jogging route, health club, swimming pool, yoga centre and facilities for indoor and outdoor games,? said the chairman of the business group.

The managing director also said that an amphitheatre with seating arrangement for at least 250 people was being built in the complex. ?Keeping in mind the prosperity of the residents, each flat has been planned and built according to Vastu principles,? he added.

Showing visitors around the flats, Narendra and Nirmal Garg, sons of the chairman, pointed to the imported doors and wooden floors. ?Each of the three bedrooms has an attached bathroom with geysers and other good quality fittings. The kitchen too has several modern amenities,? Nirmal said. Even the floor of the garages below had marble tiles he pointed out.

The 192 apartments, 48 of which are ready for possession, each measures up to 1,750 sq. ft and two 8-ft wide balconies. ?Each unit has its own covered garage space, servant?s quarter and water tank for uninterrupted supplies.? The visitors? car park itself will accommodate 100 vehicles.

But all this will definitely come at a price. The apartments are available at Rs 30 lakh each, with another 1 lakh for the garage. The 4,000-sq. ft duplex houses are priced at Rs 51 lakh each. ?There are a number of concessions for the first eight bookings,? Yograj Garg said.

Talking about his company?s plans in the state in future the managing director of Beekay Auto said they had plans of diversifying into real estate and IT. They plan to open a luxury hotel off the E.M. Bypass and an IT venture in Salt Lake?s Sector V.
