If you have lost your Voter ID card, visit the sub-divisional office at DJ 4 by May 5 to get a new one.

First visit your ward office and find out if your name is on the electoral list for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. If your name finds mention but you have lost your Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC), lodge a general diary with the local police station and carry a copy of the same when you visit the sub-divisional office.

There you will have to pay Rs 25 and complete the formalities to get a new card, which should reach you before May 12.

Alternatively, you may carry out the search for your name on the electoral list sitting at home over phone or Internet (see below).

“In case a person’s name features on the electoral list but he is yet to receive his EPIC, he may visit the sub-divisional office by May 5 to get his card. No fees will be charged for this,” said an official.

Residents will be allowed to vote even if there are errors on the EPIC. “This is because the voter’s face would be matched with the photograph on his EPIC and with the photograph printed on the electoral list. If they match, he will be allowed to cast his vote,” said the official.

But even if a resident has an EPIC he will not be allowed to vote if his name does not feature on the electoral list. As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, the sub-divisional office has stopped making amendments to this list now.

There will be a total of 2,11,109 eligible voters this time in the 116, Bidhannagar Assembly constituency, that includes Salt Lake and wards 19, 20, 28 to 35 of South Dum Dum Municipality. Out of these, 1,05,680 voters are men and 1,05,429 voters are women. There will be 273 polling stations in the constituency, out of which 150 fall under Bidhannagar Municipality.
