Two Hawk fighter jets take part in an air show at Kalaikunda in West Midnapore on Monday.
Pilots undergoing advanced training at the Kalaikunda Air Force Station could be "seamlessly" engaged for a combat if a "war-like" situation arises, senior air force officers have said.
"Standard operating procedures and instructions have been updated in keeping with the demands of the situation to prepare fighter pilots undergoing training here to rise to any situation," said Rajesh Purohit, air officer commanding an in charge of the air force station.
Fighter pilots are trained on Hawk advanced aircraft at Kalaikunda.
Senior air force officers said that as Hawks are equipped with advanced weapons, they could be pressed into strike operations when required. This could make the training exercise at Kalaikunda equivalent to gearing up pilots for a war, an officer said.
