A Japanese restaurant would soon be opening in a Japan-themed corner of Eco Tourism Park.
The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (Hidco) has started work to build a forest inspired by those found in Japan, at Eco Tourism Park. The 3-acre site would be near Gate 1 of the park. This is the first gate when approaching from Rabindra Tirtha.
“The idea is to have a bit of Japanese heritage and culture in our midst. We have selected a site in front of the waterbody and it will have pagodas, small and large Buddha statues and a restaurant serving authentic Japanese cuisine,” said Debashsis Sen, chairman and managing director Hidco.
Visitors would be greeted into this corner by a traditional Japanese gate named torii, that are commonly seen outside Japanese Shinto shirnes. The garden will also have a Buddhist-style monastery.
The greenery here will be in line with those grown in land of the rising sun, such as dense bamboo forests and an overhead arch with white and lavender wisteria flowers. Visitors will not only be able to walk underneath this arch but may sit at nearby benches to admire their beauty. A host of aromatic herbs and shrubs will also be planted here. “Visitors would be able to soak in the spirit of Japan,” said Sen.
