Jalpaiguri, Oct. 26: Pleased with the blueprint submitted by the district administration to develop tourism, the state tourism department has given its nod to prepare the tourism development and investment plan.

Tourism minister Dinesh Dakua said in a meeting at Malbazar, a few days ago, that the district administration would soon place the strategy to get the investors in Jalpaiguri.

Sources said the minister was “impressed” with the plan that was tabled for sanction and that he had even hinted that prospective investors had started sending feelers to the administration.

A. Subbaiya, Jalpaiguri district magistrate, said: “The minister has responded well to our proposal. We are chalking out a three-pronged approach to develop tourism in the district. First, we will prepare a project paper. Then we will identify the destinations, assess their potential and how they could be highlighted to woo investors.”
