Allama Iqbal's grandson Waleed Iqbal was bestowed with a Siropa (a shawl) and a Siree Sahab (a sword) when he visited Gurdwara Behala, near the Majerhat bridge, on Sunday morning. 'I am overwhelmed with the respect that you have bestowed upon me,' said Waleed, who was accompanied by Trinamul Congress MPs Sultan Ahmed and Nadimul Haque.The grandson of the creator of Saare jahan se achchha, Hindustan hamara, who hails from Lahore, is in Calcutta to participate in the three-day Jashn-e-Iqbal, being held to celebrate the literary works of Iqbal.'The idea of the visit originated when Waleed sahab expressed his desire to visit a gurdwara,' said Satnam Singh Ahluwalia, the general secretary of Gurdwara Behala Prabandhak Committee, who organised the visit along with entrepreneur Imran Zaki.The two MPs and Zaki were also honoured by the gurdwara.
