WEATHER:
Expect a chilly Christmas Eve. On Thursday evening, the mercury is likely to hover around 18 or 19°C with a north-easterly breeze that’ll make it seem a notch or two colder. During the day, the Thursday sky will mostly be cloudy and the maximum temperature will be around 24°C.
LOOKBOOK:
Model and anchor Sonika Chauhan will be reaching out for a fancy jacket to keep the chill at bay and yet step out stylish. Nothing beats a black leather jacket. The best part? You can pair it with almost anything. Think cocktail dress, floral crop top or a colourful pencil skirt. Don’t forget boots and Christmassy stockings.
Designer Komal Sood is all for red because it’s Santa time. If a red bodycon or a shirt is OTT for you, introduce the colour of cheer in your accessories. Think a red clutch, stilettos, pocket square, beret, tie or muffler. The t2 girl gang is also eyeing midnight blue, emerald green, gold, silver...
Go light on the eyes and pout pretty in deep maroon or a dark brown. Ditch contouring (unless a make-up artist is your BFF!) and work the highlighter on the bridge of your nose and cheekbones.
MUSIC & MOVES:
Since we’re all still quite Dilwalefied after that booster dose of SRK-Kajol on Tuesday, let’s start the party with Manma emotion jaage re and Tukur tukur from the Rohit Shetty blockbuster and then move on to the peppy Matargashti from Tamasha and Gulaabo from Shandaar. And we have a request for the DJ... DJwaley babu mera gaana chala do... and he’s sure to play the Badshah song. As the dance floor gets hotter, grove to Bolly hits like Afghan jalebi from Phantom, Aaj raat ka scene from Jazbaa and Banno tera swagger from Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Don’t forget to take that party selfie while shaking a leg to Chal beta selfie le le re from Bajrangi Bhaijaan. For some international grooves, there’s How Deep Is Your Love by Calvin Harris and Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean. Give a pelvic thrust to Major Lazer’s sensational Lean On and go romantic slow with Love Me Like You Do from Fifty Shades of Grey. What not to do? Copy Drake’s moves from Hotline Bling!
NOM NOM:
There’s no better place for Christmas cakes than Nahoum & Sons in New Market and Saldanha Bakery off Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road. While the classic fudge-and-fruit cake is our pick from Nahoum, plum cakes from Saldanha are yum.
For a change of flavour, drop in at Salt Lake Stadium for Aapno Gaon Rajasthani Mela and feast on authentic Rajasthani delicacies prepared by chefs who’ve come all the way from the colourful desert state.
SIP TIPS:
According to Abhijit Dev, senior club manager, Myx, Long Island Iced Tea (LIIT) and Jagerbomb are the pop picks. “LIIT is popular with those who like their drinks strong, while Jagerbombs are fun drinks that people of all ages celebrate with. Another cocktail trending right now is Caipiroska, a form of caipirinha prepared with vodka instead of the usual cachaça,” he says. For Sovan Mookherjee, head of operations and marketing, UG Reincarnated, nothing spells Christmas like red wine. And, Sangria.
