Murder cuffs

Subhabrata Dutta, 23, was arrested for allegedly killing his father in Mahestala on Friday. Subhabrata wanted his father, Madhab Dutta, to hand over the ownership of his tailoring shop to him, said the police.

The father and son had an argument on Friday afternoon, after which Subhabrata stabbed his father several times, said the police. Madhab was declared dead at a nearby hospital.

Godown fire

A fire broke out in a garments godown on Howrah's Foreshore Road on Thursday night and spread to a plywood godown. Fifteen fire tenders took more than three hours to douse the flames.
