Cheat cuffs

Cops from the cyber crime cell of the Bidhannagar Commissionerate arrested a youth from Howrah on Sunday for recharging cell phones using other people’s debit cards. Acting on a complaint lodged by Bindu Rao, a Kaikhali resident, on May 29, police found that her debit card was used by Probhat Singh. Singh had called Rao posing as a bank official and obtained her card details. Balance checks on May 26 and 27 revealed Rs 1 lakh missing from Rao’s account. Singh used Paytm app to recharge cell phones of other people and took money from them, said the police .

20 injured

More than 20 people were injured when a lorry hit a government bus on NH6, near Bally Ghat station, around 6.30am on Sunday. The injured were treated at Uttarpara State General Hospital. The South Bengal State Transport Corporation bus was on its way to Digha from Belghoria.

Body found

The body of a man was found hanging from a tree near Jatragachhi police camp in New Town on Sunday.
