
Ranen Ayan Dutt, the artist who was once the rage for the wonderful promotional material he created for products such as Jabakusum hair oil and Shalimar, and book covers, at the opening of an exhibiton of his art work at Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, on Monday evening. There are about 50 of his paintings on display, including watercolours he did on his travels here and abroad. He had created the poster of Tapan Sinha’s film Kabuliwala. The octogenarian artist still paints regularly and had painted a portrait of Sister Nivedita for this show. Included in this show is his design for the State Bank of India museum in the new headquarters on Strand Road. The exhibition was opened by sculptor Shukti Shubhra Pradhan. Also present were her husband sculptor Niranjan Pradhan and Swami Suparnananda, the secretary of the institute.
