That’s an Ambassador’s steering on a Hero bicycle! Ever since Subir Dungdung replaced his bike’s handle with that of a car, he has been getting curious glances at every Island. “I ride from my KC Block home to my office at the CGO complex. People come and ask about it and click pictures,” says the man who moved here from Jharkhand in 2011.

Dungdung replaced the handle simply out of curiosity but now says he can’t do without it. “It’s so comfortable that I can’t ride bikes with handles now,” says the man who is also a member of CNG (Cycle Network Grow) cycling club. He often joins the group cycling around New Town.

He has a second bike, whose handle has been replaced by a Maruti’s steering wheel.

The horns are fixed to the wheel and they require batteries to run. So his next plan is to fix solar panels to charge them.

Cycling keeps you fit and is eco-friendly. So I always encourage others to take it up,” says Dungdung. “I’d be very happy if the novelty factor of my bike gets them hooked.”
