Cooch Behar: Man who posed as doctor arrested

During interrogation, he could not tell the full form of MBBS, said a police officer

A person was arrested from Pundibari here on Friday for posing as a doctor and practising in private.

Police sources said Srinibash Ghosh, a resident of Purba Chandanchowra here, had claimed to have degrees in MBBS and MD from London. “During interrogation, he could not tell us the full form of MBBS,” said a police officer.


Smuggler nabbed

Troops of the 61 battalion of the Border Security Force at North Agra border outpost in South Dinajpur apprehended a Bangladeshi smuggler while he was trying to infiltrate into India.

The arrested smuggler identified as Chandan Topo, a resident of Naogaon district of Bangladesh, was handed over to the Hilli police station.

The BSF also carried out raids in different locations under the north Bengal frontier on Friday and Saturday and seized a number of contraband items valued at Rs Rs 2.78 lakhs, BSF sources said.
