Calcutta/Raiganj: The CID on Monday interrogated Russell Aziz, the son of Raiganj MP Md Salim, in connection with his purported Facebook post that two polling officials had been killed by Trinamul-backed goons in North Dinajpur during the rural elections on May 14.
In the same post that went viral in the social media, Russel said the information was "unverified."
Sources said the CID had asked Russell about the source of the information and why he had written so. The CID also wanted to know when Russell had realised that his information was not true and decided to withdraw the post.
Russell was questioned for over three hours with CID officers scanning the gadget from where he had allegedly written the post.
"I was called for a round of questioning. I have told the officers that I will extend full cooperation. There is nothing to hide about this," Russell reportedly told people close to him in Calcutta after stepping out of the CID headquarters at Alipore in the Bengal capital.
CID officers said he had been asked to turn up again around 10.45am on Tuesday for another round of questioning.
