Siliguri, Nov. 18: A free surgery camp for cleft lip and palate is being held at Goodricke Group Hospital, Chalsa. The camp organised by Howrah South Point, Jalpaiguri, in collaboration with Goodricke Group Ltd will continue till November 26.
Around 40 children from Jalpaiguri district will be undergoing operation at the camp. The surgery is being performed by a team of doctors from Germany. A similar camp will be organised in March next year.
Islampur: Five cases of unnatural death were registered with different police stations of Islampur subdivision on Friday. Baby Sarkar (45) of Nandajhar, Tapan Mandal a labourer and a resident of North 24 Parganas, two unidentified women aged around 48 and 60 and a 60-year-old man were among the dead.
Siliguri: The Darjeeling district committee of the All India Forward Bloc will commence its two-day annual district-level meeting at Kharibari Community Hall from Saturday.
