A 25-year-old biker was killed and the person riding pillion severely injured in a hit-and-run - the second in seven days - at a crossing with blinking amber lights early on Saturday.
A Honda City was headed south on Deshapran Sashmal Road around 2.30am when the biker from the opposite direction turned right and came in front of the car near Rabindra Sarobar Metro, police said.
The car rammed into the bike and moved a couple of metres before coming to a stop after the air bags got deployed.

The police identified the driver of the Honda City as Yash Chowdhury, 27, of Salt Lake when he gave himself up almost eight hours after the accident at Charu Market police station and was arrested.

Last Sunday, a scooterist was killed after being hit by a Merecedes Benz on Hazra Road. Two others with him were injured. The police had said none of them was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Varun Maheswari, 25, who was driving the Merc went missing for two days before being arrested and booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The charge carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in jail.
His lawyers have claimed the scooterist was at fault.
Initial investigations suggest the biker was at fault in Saturday's accident, the police said. "In the Hazra Road accident, the case was initially registered under Section 304A (causing death due to negligence) of the IPC. It was later amended to section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) based on emerging evidence," an officer of the traffic department at Lalbazar said. "In this case, till now it looks like the motorcyclist was at fault. So, we have started a case under section 304A. The charge can be amended if something new emerges."
Kairi, a resident of Behala's Roy Bahadur Road, is survived by his wife and child.
Ghosh, originally from Raidighi, lives at a rented flat in Bansdroni with his wife and two kids.
His condition is said to be critical.
The traffic department's fatal squad has taken over the investigations into the hit-and-run.
