Brass cannons built in 1757 on display at a museum at the Gun and Shell Factory, Cossipore, which opened on Friday. The ground floor of the building houses vintage military exhibits.

The first floor has documents on the evolution of the oldest ordinance factory in South East Asia established in 1801.

"People should share the pride associated with the Gun and Shell Factory," said Rajib Chakraborty, the senior general manager of the factory. The museum will remain open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Entry is free. Picture by Pradip Sanyal
