Siliguri, Dec. 28: Say it with hookah this New Year and the Moroccan way!
The hookahs, tents, desert music wafting across the lawn as waitresses glide about in their Arabian best — Blue Mountain Country Club at Dagapur, 4 km from here, is all set to celebrate the Moroccan spirit at Arabian Nite, the annual party to usher in 2007.
For tobacco connoisseurs, Arabian Nite will offer a wide range of specially-flavoured hookahs, a special attraction for the 31st party. “Besides, strawberry, vanilla, mint and cola, we will have 15 other flavours,” Anand Prasad, the proprietor, said.
If the air that night is going to be shrouded by smoke from hookahs, the look is sure to be all that is Moroccan, the organiser promised. “From the décor — lights to clothes of waiters — everything will resemble life from the country in north Africa,” Prasad said. “We will put up tents to conjure up the typical Arabian nights feel.”
Even the visitors have been given the “desert” colour code for their dresses — golden for women and grey for men. “Gold goes well with the Moroccan spirit. So we want the women to put on something that has shades of gold. It can be just a scarf or a belt, if not the entire dress,” Prasad said.
DJ Pablo from Calcutta has been roped in to dish out foot-tapping numbers throughout the night. “We expect a footfall of 600,” Prasad said. There will be dancers, of course in Moroccan attires, to set the stage on fire.
While drink is sure to flow like the Panchnoi meandering past the lawns of the club, bar jugglers will regale the guests with their concoctions and tricks with glasses and bottles. Indian, Italian and Mexican cuisines will be lined up for the open-air party.
