Siliguri, Dec. 19: Three students were injured in a skirmish in Dhupguri College today.

The student union’s election in the college is slated on December 24. The SFI occupies all the 30 seats at present.

The scuffle started after some supporters of the Trinamul Chhatra Parishad, the student wing of the Trinamul Congress, allegedly dragged two girls, one of them an SFI candidate in the poll, away and abused them.

SFI supporters rushed to their rescue and a fight followed. The girls and a Trinamul supporter, Sajib Das, were injured. The girls were taken to the Dhupguri block hospital and released in the evening. Das is under treatment in Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital.

Mukul Nath, the principal of the college, said situation is under control. Dhupguri police called a meeting of the representatives of the unions and college authorities to settle the matter.
