Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury's films often feel like poetry on screen, and music is the beating heart of most of his films. Dear Maa is no exception to this. On July 7, Eternal Sounds launched the music album of the film on vinyl, in collaboration with the Indian Museum. The film stars Jaya Ahsan, Saswata Chatterjee, Anubha Fatehpuria, Padmapriya, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Dhritiman Chaterji and Shayan Munshi.

“The score is different. It is encouraging that people are liking it. It is very minimalist yet very impactful. I was involved from the film’s conception. Tony and I are great friends, but we waited it out to work together. The minute he started describing the film to me, I started hearing the cello, and that's how we got Barry Phillips. My programmer Kunal and lyricist Tanveer Ghazi did a fantastic job. For Kaise kahoon, we first thought of an adult voice. Then I got to know about this child from my friend Shantanu, who teaches music to children. Shubha Mudgal’s song has been used as a metaphor for Jaya’s emotions in the scene. People will remember Papon’s voice. Anindya and Ujjaini’s song is a surprise. We chose Hindi as a language to make the film accessible to a larger audience through its music,” said composer Bickram Ghosh.

“We created the music of Dear Maa while giving adda at Tolly Club… we had serious discussions too on life and Dear Maa during those addas, and that's how the music shaped up,” said Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury.
