Windows Production has announced the principal cast of Bhanupriya Bhooter Hotel, sparking fresh excitement about the film that had generated a lot of buzz following its poster reveal on social media in February this year. As suggested by the poster, the film would blend romance, suspense, horror and humour to present a complete package of thrills, excitement and entertainment for viewers.
Directed by Aritra Mukherjee with its story written by Zinia Sen, Bhanupriya Bhooter Hotel promises to be a hilarious tale of six ghosts navigating human interactions after a hotel is built on the land where their graveyard used to be. The film stars Mimi Chakraborty, Soham Majumdar, Bonny Sengupta and Swastika Dutta. Screenplay and dialogues are by Zinia Sen and Godhuli Sharma.
“Last June, I was in Kalimpong with Nanditadi (Roy) and Shiboprosad (Mukherjee) and being a little more adventurous than them, I would take long solitary walks down the empty corridors of the old, colonial-era hotel we were staying in. Those dimly-lit hallways, steeped in silence, often made me wonder — are all those around me truly human? That eerie thought stayed with me. It was during one of those moments that the idea for Bhanupriya Bhooter Hotel struck me. I shared it with Didi and Shiboprosad right away. They loved it and immediately began helping me shape the story. When I returned and narrated it to Aritra (Mukherjee) and the rest of our team, the excitement was palpable. We’ve never worked in this genre before, and we felt this was the right time to push our creative boundaries. Bhanupriya Bhooter Hotel isn’t just a horror comedy — it’s also a social commentary wrapped in thrills and laughs. What makes me even happier is that we’ve managed to bring together our dream cast for this film,” said Zinia Sen.
Explaining his casting choices, Aritra said, “I had worked with Soham in Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti, where he was cast as Ritabhari Chakraborty’s character’s husband. He is one of my favourite actors and I was determined to cast him again in a film. He was my natural choice for the role of a lawyer in this film, and I am sure he will do justice to it. I selected Mimi for her ability to portray both rage and romance. She is a natural actress, and I felt she could enact these opposing moods effortlessly.
“I had worked with Swastika during Fatafati and I think she is an extremely underrated actress. She is very sincere and does her homework well. She is gorgeous too and I think she is just perfect for the role we have planned for her. Bhanupriya Bhooter Hotel will have multiple song and dance sequences. So Bonny, who is a great dancer, is also an obvious choice for the role he has been selected to play.”
Shooting for Bhanupriya Bhooter Hotel is expected to commence on June 22, in the hills of North Bengal. Parts of the film will also be shot later in Calcutta. Bhanupriya Bhooter Hotel, which promises an entertaining mix of comedy, horror and romance, has a Christmas 2025 release date.
