A 10-minute workout can make you fitter. It helps when it’s not just fast and efficient, but also fun. Think of it as listening to Dear John (Taylor’s Version), followed by The Fate of Ophelia. Bam! Ten minutes done. If you keep at this routine day after day, it can help build endurance, strength and confidence. That’s one of the core ideas behind Apple Fitness+, which is now live in India.
Announced a few days ago, the service lets you choose from a range of workouts, all delivered through crisp, crystal-clear videos. And why stop at 10 minutes when you can push on for 20 or 30? The platform is built around flexibility.
The new subscription offers 12 months of access for the price of eight at ₹999 per year. If you want to experience Fitness+ before committing, there’s a one-month free trial, followed by a ₹149 monthly plan. And before you say it, the cost is significantly lower than what users pay in the US or the UK.
Having access to the platform is almost like training with a personal coach. It constantly nudges you to push a little harder every day.
Apple Watch users are already familiar with the “close your rings” mantra. Fitness+ takes it a step further by offering workout videos fully integrated into the Fitness app. An Apple Watch isn’t mandatory, but it certainly helps. You can also pair the experience with AirPods Pro (3rd generation), which feature a built-in heart-rate sensor, or Powerbeats Pro 2.
As you work out, the Watch uses its heart-rate monitor and other tracking tools to measure your effort. Your heart rate, timer, kilojoules burned and progress towards your rings appear on screen in real time. One of the standout features is the Burn Bar, which adds a competitive edge by showing how you stack up against others who have completed the same workout.
Every Fitness+ video is paired with an Apple Music playlist, ensuring you’re never bored. Being pushed to work harder or faster in sync with the beat makes a noticeable difference. While YouTube is full of workout videos, it’s also full of distractions. Fitness+ is a dedicated platform with a cleaner browsing experience, offering a wide range of workout styles and difficulty levels. You can start with the basics and gradually work your way up, with the app recommending sessions based on what you’ve done before and what might interest you next.
The best part is that Fitness+ works across your iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. You can roll out a mat in the park with a water bottle and towel, or work out at home with the cat, tackling a HIIT session, kickboxing with Jamie-Ray or winding down with a meditation led by JoAnna.
It’s easy to break a sweat. The exercises can be simple or challenging, depending on how far you want to push yourself, but they’re designed to keep your heart rate up throughout.
If fitness is your New Year’s resolution, Apple Fitness+ might just be the Christmas gift you’ve been waiting for.
