Altercation between a wife and her drunk husband leads to a tragic ending

An e-rickshaw driver hacked his wife and five-month-old daughter in a drunken state and was lynched by neighbours when he attacked them also near Dinhata in Cooch Behar district on Friday morning.

Sources said Burman of Baronachina Ghatpar village was a habitual drunkard. “He returned home drunk this morning. He had an altercation with his wife. Burman took a sharp weapon and hacked his daughter and wife. When the wife cried for help, local people gathered and tried to catch him. When Burman attacked them, he was caught and beaten up,” said a source.

Dinhata police arrived and took Burman, wife and daughter to the subdivisional hospital. The girl was pronounced brought-dead. Burman succumbed to the injuries later.
