Reep Hazarika is new BCPL chief

Hazarika will be fourth incumbent to the top post of BCPL and first from Assam

Reep Hazarika will take charge as the managing director of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) from February 1. A thorough-bred technocrat, Hazarika was part of successful commissioning teams of the two prestigious Assam Accord projects viz. the Assam Accord Refinery and the Assam Gas Cracker Project (formally, NRL and BCPL respectively).

Hazarika completed his schooling from St Edmunds School, Shillong. He did his graduation in chemical engineering (honours) from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.

He also holds a postgraduate diploma in personnel management from Institute of Marketing and Management, New Delhi. With over 30 years of experience in the oil refining and petrochemical industry, Hazarika worked in Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Numaligarh Refinery Limited and Bharat Oman Refineries Limited.

Between 2006 and 2012, he worked with Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery Company in Saudi Arabia.

Hazarika has worked across different functions, including operations, technical services, projects, planning and programming, environment management and corporate affairs. Prior to taking charge as the managing director, Hazarika worked as the chief general manager at BCPL heading the overall operation and maintenance of the plant since 2016.

He will be the fourth incumbent to the top post of BCPL and the first from the state.
