Imphal: The Manipur PCC and the Manipur unit of Shiv Sena termed the Naga People's Front (NPF) as supporters of the NSCN (I-M), a day after the party failed to turn up at the all-party meeting held on Saturday at the chief minister's secretariat here.

Manipur PCC vice-president T. Mangibabu said, "What the NSCN (I-M) wants is either to break the integrity of the state or do something similar. It is a secret. The NPF's absence in the meeting shows that it supports the NSCN (I-M)."

Manipur Shiv Sena president M. Tombi said, "It is very clear that their absence in yesterday's meeting shows their support for the demands of the NSCN (I-M)."

On Saturday, all the political parties of Manipur, except the NPF, attended a meeting chaired by chief minister N. Biren Singh and discussed the possible impact of the Naga talks between the Centre and NSCN (I-M) on the territorial integrity and unity of the state. The meeting decided to depute members of a consultative committee to New Delhi to meet important stakeholders and know the latest developments and facts at the earliest.

It was decided that all the parties would pursue the Centre, through their respective central leaders, to preserve and protect the oneness of Manipur under any circumstance.

It also resolved to send a delegation of all political parties to the Centre to highlight the issue and its importance to the Prime Minister and other leaders, if necessary.

In a press statement released on Saturday, the NPF's Manipur state unit pledged to work for the unity and integrity of the people by integrating all contiguous Naga-inhabited areas under one administrative roof and provide protection to all the ethnic groups.

It stated that the NPF would not participate in the meeting and the party's state unit president, W. Morung Makunga, and general secretary (administration) Honreikhui Kashung had warned NPF leaders/members against participating in the meeting.
