Guwahati schools come up trumps - DPS, Duliajan best team in CBSE meet

Guwahati, Sept. 30: City schools Hindustani Kendriya Vidyalaya and Faculty HS School claimed the under-19 boys? and girls? team titles respectively in the CBSE east zone cluster I inter-school table tennis meet that concluded at Miles Bronson Residential School here on Wednesday.
The Hindustani boys turned the tables on Faculty HS for the title while Army School, Narengi finished third in the under-19 boys? event.
In the girls? section, the Faculty girls got better of hosts Miles Bronson.
The Faculty boys, however, bagged the under-16 crown beating Delhi Public School (DPS), Duliajan. Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya (VKV), Golaghat finished third.
Miles Bronson emerged winner in the girls? category of the same age group.
In the under-14 event boys of Guwahati Public School won while DPS, Nazira and Srimanta Sankardev Academy finished second and third respectively.
In the corresponding girls? event, DPS, Nazira players annexed the crown outshining girls from Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya, Golaghat while Miles Bronson finished third.
DPS, Duliajan was adjudged the best team in the tournament taking into consideration their overall discipline and conduct.
Altogether 16 teams from across the region, including DAV School, Sikkim and Kanan Devi Senior Secondary School, participated in the tournament.
Deputy director of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan U.N. Khaware and principal of DPS, Guwahati Chandralekha Rawat, gave away the prizes during the closing ceremony on Wednesday evening.
